I wrote this in the fall of 2010. At this point in my life, Father was teaching me about leading and following leadership. He was also teaching me about spiritual authority. I wrote this song as a response to the Lord's teaching and, ultimately, His rebuke/conviction. He revealed to me, first of all, that it was difficult for me to trust those in leadership over me because I thought I had everything figured out. I thought I could do things better. Father convicted me of my pride and self-righteousness. And then, the big wham-o...He showed me that in the end, it was He who I didn't trust. I was blown away. I thought I totally trusted God in everything, but in reality I had put trust in false areas of my life, such as my talents, my giftings, and those who I looked up to. I had believed the lie these things could carry me to the most effective ministry... and i didn't even know it. It was out of this place of brokenness that I picked up my guitar and wrote this song. I had to declare my dependence on Jesus and how I can trust Him in all things because He is good and faithful. It was the fastest song I've written and all just flowed together so quickly. Father has definitely taught me a lot this past year about trusting Him.
This song is also a cry to trust the Lord and His goodness in not only the best, but also the hardest of times.
The first verse comes out of Psalm 20:7 and Psalm 146:3.
The rest of the song is a declaration of the Lord's character and commanding the soul to put trust in Him alone.
We must be a people who believe in and walk in the Father's goodness. Psalm 119:68 says "You are good and do good; teach me your statutes." GOD IS GOOD AND DOES GOOD! We can trust in a loving Father who is good and does good. All He is and all He does is GOOD. He is faithful. Trust Him.
God is good. I hope this song encourages you.

lyrics
Some will trust in chariots and horses
Some will trust in mortal men and princes
They hope in them but never find salvation
Some will trust in the work of their own hands
Some will trust in their own ways and their own plans
They hope in them but never find salvation
But who will I trust
Who will I trust
I will trust in the Lord
God of my salvation
I will trust in the God who is eternal
I will trust in the God who's always faithful
I will trust in the Lord and find salvation
I will trust in the one who gave His life for me
I will trust in the storms and in adversity
I will trust in the Lord and find salvation
Put your trust in the Lord my soul
You are faithful, God
